FAQ's

Is there car parking available?

The Tahaki Reserve carpark is closed for the event.

Limited parking is available beside the playground on Normanby Road, and within the Maungawhau maunga at the lower carpark beside the roundabout and the upper carpark below the Whau Café and Visitor Centre.

Only limited mobility visitors can drive to the tihi (summit) of Maungawhau.

Can I bring by bike or scooter?

Bikes and scooters are allowed on the road but riding on the Maunga slopes and grassed areas is strictly prohibited.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are best left at home on event days, given the small event space at Tahaki Reserve and the large crowds expected.

Is the event mobility accessible?

Tahaki Reserve is a grassed space with some paths at the perimeter and is accessible by wheelchair.

A small number of accessible parking spaces are available within the Tahaki Reserve carpark on event days, on a first come first serve basis.

There are two mobility parking spaces at the Whau Café on Maungawehau.  Limited mobility visitors can request an access code to drive to the tihi (summit) of Maungawhau (read more here).

Can I bring alcohol to the event?

No.  Maungawhau is an alcohol and smoke-free maunga.

Is there a cost to attend Love Your Maunga events?

No.  Love Your Maunga is a free community event.

Can I purchase food and non-alcoholic drinks at the event?

Yes.  Food and beverage stalls will be available.

Stall holders can accept cash or Eftpos.

There is also the Whau Café on Maungawhau below the tihi.
